MOSS TRIVIA
Mosses are ancestors of green plants which originally evolved from green algae.They came up to a varying evolution to the present all started from ashore of the oceans. The severe environment of mother earth at the era had 20 times more carbon dioxide from the present and survival of mosses simply proved the vitality of the species.Now 24thousand worldwide and 2500 species of mosses have been recognized in Japan.Japan is second to USA in the number of variety.

About Racomitrium Mosses

They are bryophytes (nonvascular plants) found chiefly in sun shiny areas from lowland to subalpine.
They grow well at dry and sandy places and often appear in ridges of red pine forests.
They expand forms of communities widespread in flatlands and slopes.Often adopted for moss gardening.
Their leaves are closed tightly but open widely in green when watered. Incredibly different to believe it's the same plant. This water adaptive feature of leaves is the most significant factor to survive in dry environments.
